Winneba (C/R), May 5, GNA - A first year music student of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Linda Micah was on Saturday crowned Miss Aboakyer 2008 at a special beauty contest organised in Winneba as part of activities to mark the Aboakyer festival. She took away a medium size refrigerator valued at GH¢500. Miss Cecilia Amo, based in Kasoa became the first runner-up and took home a gas cooker valued at GH¢350, whilst Miss Funney Yamoah, a Senior High School graduate from Winneba placed third and was given a Digital Video Disc (DVD) player costing GH¢150.

She took away a medium size refrigerator valued at GH¢500. Miss Cecilia Amo, based in Kasoa became the first runner-up and took home a gas cooker valued at GH¢350, whilst Miss Funney Yamoah, a Senior High School graduate from Winneba placed third and was given a Digital Video Disc (DVD) player costing GH¢150. Consolation prizes ranging from T-Shirts, cartons of beer and glasses were given to those who placed fourth to the last 11th position. The contestants staged chorography, dance and modelling performances besides answering general questions from the judges. In their individual speeches, the contestants called for stressed the importance of living a decent moral life with a special emphasis on the menace of HIV/AIDS and environmental cleanliness. Miss Aboakyer was beautifully adorned by officials of the Accra Brewery Limited and Coca cola company, sponsors of the event.
