Kumasi, Sept 15, GNA - A taxi driver fleeing from the police experienced what can be described as "Divine intervention'' when his taxi ran out of fuel.

Kwabena Bonsu, 24, chased by the police, was therefore forced to stay put for his pursuers to arrest him.

He was subsequently put before a Kumasi Circuit court on Wednesday on charges of driving without licence, windscreen and fire-extinguisher, careless driving, driving with deflated tyres and driving without warning triangle and tail lights.

Bonsu, who pleaded guilty on all counts, was remanded to re-appear on September 21.

Police Chief Inspector Regina Kesewaa told the court that police personnel who were on a routine check on the Kumasi-Obuasi trunk road spotted the accused driving carelessly.

He was signalled to stop and when a check was conducted it was discovered that he did not have these items besides and was ordered to get out of the vehicle.

Inspector Kessewaa said the accused stunned the police when he jumped into the car and sped-off.
