The former Deputy Minister for Defence, Dr. Tony Aidoo was on Wednesday night slapped by a motorist at Adabraka in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. Surprisingly, Tony Aidoo who is known for his abrasive talk did not fight back.

Narrating his ordeal to JOYFM, the former deputy Minister said he was driving towards, Adabraka when he heard someone shout his name. He said he lowered his side glass to check who it was and heard his assailant say “you are Tony Aidoo, you people are no longer in power but you insulted my minister on radio yesterday.”

According to him, before he could say anything, the man had slapped him and sped off. “He slapped me just like that.” Dr. Tony Aidoo also noted that after the assailant had left in his Daewoo Tico car, he informed a police dispatch rider who happened to be passing by, but he was unable to arrest the assailant.

He explained that he did not inform the nearest police station about the incident because he was not sure of getting a witness to testify in support of his claim. Dr. Aidoo therefore expressed surprise at how JOYFM got the information and was full of praise for the station for announcing the incident saying that “this is surely good journalistic practice.”

Dr. Tony Aidoo was on Tuesday interviewed on JOYFM about the security surveillance mounted around the former President’s house and the subsequent arrest of a Belize national for counter intelligence activities.

On a number of occasions, he branded the Interior Minister, Alhaji Malik Yakubu “ a liar who was hiding the truth on what he described as an assassination attempt on the former President”. According to Dr Aidoo, the Interior Minister’s explanation for the reasons for the operation and the arrest of Albert Odinga were false.
