Four die in accident at Tema

Tema, July 28, GNA -- Four people, all males, including a small boy and an insane person died on the spot and several others were injured when a gas tanker veered off its lane and entered a gutter at the Tema-Aflao station on the Tema Motorway roundabout. The bodies of the dead, whose names were not immediately known have been deposited at the Tema General Hospital mortuary, while the injured were rushed to the same hospital and private ones.

An eyewitness told the Ghana News Agency at the scene of the accident that at about 1700 hours on Thursday the gas tanker DAF, with registration number GW 4419 V was coming from the Aflao direction. As it was approaching the station it went off its lane killing two men sitting under a shed, the mad man who was then standing and the small boy who had just alighted from a vehicle.

In the process the tanker run through three stationary taxis damaging them and injuring all the occupants. The eyewitness said the driver who also got injured became confused and could not tell what exactly happened. Meanwhile, the Tema Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. David Annang rushed to the scene to assess the extent of the disaster.
