Artiste manager and CEO of Media Excel, Ernest Kwesi Ennin has said in an interview that, Franklina Maame Yaa Taboa Nkansah (Franky Kuri) and military officer Francis Atsu Vondee who died in a gory car accident with dancehall musician Ebony died a stupid death.
Explaining his point, the two aids (Franky Kuri and Atsu Vondee) were only friends to Ebony and were not signed to Ruff Town Records. Hence, they are not regarded as team or label members.
To him, most people force their ways in the camps of musicians for the bases of being friends or family members and will be seen almost everywhere with the musician. But that does not qualify them as label or team members as they only came in for the purposes of being popular.
Though many might beg to differ, Ernest believes this will serve as a deterrent to others who follow an artiste without any official signings.
“Following an artiste doesn’t qualify you a team or a label member. As an artiste manager, I will advise individuals to desist from that act. To me, I think Ebony’s special aids died the most stupid death because, none of them were signed onto the label neither were they assigned by the label to embark on such duties that ended up taking their precious lives. When an artist begins his career, it is his manager who is mostly seen around him or her, but you can’t say same after the artiste starts to make waves. All manner of people want to force themselves and be part of this success story and that is only advisable if the label agrees to sign you. If not don’t force yourselves on them” he said.
Ernest Kwesi Ennin joined the Ghana Music Industry some decades ago and he is undoubtedly one of the best gospel music producers in the country. Ernest who is the chief executive officer of Media Excel Productions, a music production firm, has so many albums with different artistes under its label.
Media Excel Productions attaches a lot of importance to developing Ghanaian gospel artistes and enhancing their image on the international music market. It has, over the years, been involved in the development of Ghanaian music and artiste management.
