Fred Nuamah, the Chief Executive of Ghana Movie Awards, has drawn to himself a growing public condemnation after he made what many have described as derogatory comments against actress Gloria Safo.
Fred, in a response to reports that Gloria Safo may be a suitable wife for him, had said: “Gloria is not my type of girl. Why would I go in for her when other ladies like Becca, Martha Ankomah and co are all around?”
Fred is currently not married and his family and friends have expressed worry about it.
His comment has been largely described as distasteful, sarcastic and very disrespectful to not just Gloria but women. It has also been interpreted as an insult to Gloria and perhaps her brand.
Over the weekend a lot of people, including showbiz observers who were not pleased with the comment, took to different platforms to lash out at the man who is also an executive member of the Sheyi Adebayor Foundation (SEA).
“I’m even annoyed…! How can you open your big mouth to give such a response? Real gentlemen don’t do that. You could have find a nicer way to go about it…think before you talk. Anyway I’m speaking to you just like you did to Gloria,” one critic said on peacefmonline.com.
A counter reaction from Gloria on the new development have pushed fans praising her.
Live Fm had quoted her to have said: “Really? Waaaao, amazing. When we are responding with respect, decency and decorum, some are busy disrespecting, disregarding and underrating. Well, the least said about this, the better. Silence is golden.”
On Sunday Fred also took to Instagram to throw tantrums, saying, “From today the less you respond to rude critical, argumentative people…the more peaceful your life will become. Every blessing assigned to you is coming. Amen.”
Both Gloria and Fred are currently among the many Ghanaian unmarried stars. As to whether they will agree to marry each other, time will definitely tell.
Gloria had been promised publicly before but for over two years now, there have been no reports about her marriage ceremony.
