Accra, March 16, GNA - The Embassy of France in Ghana and CFAO-Ghana, a French company, are sponsoring a photo exhibition dubbed; Ghana Photos Memories as part of France's contribution to Ghana's Golden Jubilee celebrations.

A statement from the French Embassy in Accra on Friday said the two-week exhibition from March 21 would be at the Artist's Alliance Gallery in Accra.

It said the exhibition was being mounted with the collaboration of photography pioneers in Ghana and younger artists.

It said some photographs found in photo studios in Accra, Kumasi, Cape Coast, Tamal=E9, Salaga, as well as official archives depicted not only the great heritage of Ghana, but also everyday life stories and events, joys and sorrows.

"They exhibit the independence celebrations, chiefs and their traditional settings, marriages and family gatherings, old areas of Jamestown, thatched-housed villages, northern farmers and workers of Tema. The selection of works is based on their artistic quality as much as their historical value."

The statement said the aim of the exhibition was to return visual memory to the people of Ghana and at the same time to enhance this heritage from many generations of Ghanaian photographers as well as to confront them with the contemporary vision of 20 young artists.
