Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD)
In his recent post up on Facebook, Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD) revealed he gets so angry when he hears commercials soliciting funds to help showbiz personalities with health issues.
According to him, this happens because people is the arts sector are not well appreciated, revealing that even the corporate entities don’t see why they should pay you so much for performing 3 or 4 hours.
In his own words, he wrote;
“I get so angry when I hear or see commercials soliciting funds to help musicians and people in the arts when they have health issues! All because we don’t appreciate what they do and NEVER pay them well when they are active and in their prime…Elsewhere, people in the arts, entertainment and culture are ranked as part of the wealthiest but where I’m from, even the wealthy ones expect me to host their events free because they have no respect for what we do, corporate entities don’t see why they should pay you so much for performing 3 or 4 hours for them.
As a young broadcaster growing up, I never wanted to use the name DJ back in the day when I played records because I knew people won’t take me seriously, I chose to be called by the name given to me by my parents KOFI OKYERE DARKO and always made it a point to dress and carry myself well because, like someone who works in a corporate environment, my office is the radio/TV studio.
