Greater Accra Music Awards ( GAMA), an annual awards scheme that seeks to recognize and award musical talents in the Greater Accra Region which opened nominations on July 12, 2019, will close the filing of nominations Monday, August 12, 2019, at 12 am.
According to the organizers, the scheme aims at recognizing and celebrating the hard-working artistes under the year in review. The CEO of the scheme Rashid said, “Ghana’s capital is undoubtedly the hub of great talent however due to several talents seeking greener pastures here, it has made it difficult for the music fans to identify and celebrate the Greater Accra artistes, it is also to touch base with musical roots in the capital.
“Ghana music industry over the years have seen huge growth in the development hence creating a lots of employment throughout. The music industry is one of the sectors which can boost of energetic youth”
He also added that the categories along with definitions are sent out to industry practitioners in the region by the GAMA Board; radio station DJs, night club DJs as well as MUSIGA Greater Regional office, major distributors of music etc, for nominations in the various categories.

Gospel Song of the year
Hip life song of the year
Hip Hop song of the year
Reggae Song of the year
Dancehall song of the year
Best Group of the year
Best Rapper of the year
Best Collaboration of the year
Emerging Artiste of the Year
Album of the year
Viral Song of the year
Best Male Vocalist of the year
Best Female Vocalist of the year
Song Writer of the year
Producer of the year
Video director year
Hip hop Artiste of the year
Traditional Artiste of the year
Highlife Artiste of the year
Gospel Artiste of the year
None Gama Artiste of the year
Gama International Artiste of the year
Fan base of the year

Artistes who qualifies are artistes whose work were released in the year under review.
The winners within each category are determined by a twofold voting system. The first is a percentage of the final score allocated to the award academy who individually vote for their preferred artist/group.
The second is a larger percentage allocated to the general public who vote via SMS for their favorite artist after having access to various music samples on the official website. All the votes go to an independent auditing firm who determine the final winner.
