GHAMRO holds first-ever Annual General Meeting (AGM)

History was made on Saturday the 6th day of December, 2014, when the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO), under Article 28 of the GHAMRO Constitution, held its first-ever Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Catholic Social Advance Centre in Accra.

Musicians, Authors, Producers and Publishers from all over Ghana were in attendance and made resolutions to move the industry forward.

Prominent amongst these were Kojo Antwi, Randy Noonoo, Rex Omar, Diana Hopeson, Professor Kofi Abraham, Bice Osei Kufour (Obour) and Augustina Addisson.

Also in attendance was Ms. Yaa Attafuah, the Acting Copyright Administrator and Lawyer Jonathan Cudjoe, a copyright expert as well Chief Tony Okoroji, Chairman Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) who was specially invited to attend the AGM. The excitement was palpable as members openly exchanged ideas and relished the opportunity to bask in the historic event.

The various reports, including those of the Court-Appointed Receiver-Managers, the Administrator and the Auditors of GHAMRO, were read and adopted by the membership in session.

To ensure smooth and orderly transition in case of non-renewal of the mandate of the current Receiver-Managers, members unanimously appointed messrs Rex Omar, Yaw Osborn and Joseph Mensah and provisional representatives from the Attorney General's Department and the Copyright Office to run the affairs of GHAMRO until elections are held.

Members also had in-depth discussions on the affairs of GHAMRO, past, present and future.
