GHAMRO holds first general meeting in Kumasi

The chairman of Ghana Music Right Organization(GHAMRO), Kojo Antwi says from this year, the organization will distribute royalties twice to members.

According to him, the board has plans to distribute monies to members in June and the second royalties will be distributed in the latter part of the year.

The ‘music man’ was speaking during the first Annual General Meeting of GHAMRO which took place at KNUST, in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.

The first GHAMRO AGM attracted huge audience consisting of musicians and publishers from across the country including Aya Koo Nimo, Nana Kwame Ampadu, Kofi Abraham, Diana hopeson, Awurama Badu, Nana Tuffour, Big Ben, Zapp Mallet among others as well as representation of all genres of Ghanaian music.

Kojo Antwi revealed that currently GHAMRO membership stands at 3,637 of which 164 are publishers and advised members to update their records. He added that the sum of the single distribution from GHAMRO to members in 2015 is over 380 percent what was distributed by the previous management the year before.

The maestro said` GHAMRO distributed a total of Gh 1, 605,295 in comparison to the previous management`s GHC 334,18.
