The President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGHA) Bice Osei Kuffuor popularly known as Obour has revealed that a whopping GHC800, 000 was spent to conduct a comprehensive study on Ghana’s music industry.

The GHC800, 000 was part of a two million cedi fund given to the music union by former Finance Minister Dr. Kwabena Duffuor under the then NDC government headed by late President Mills.

He also revealed that another GHc800, 000 was also spent on the first edition of the Ghana music festival.

“We received one million first and [with] this one million, part [of it] commissioned the study into the music sector. Out of the entire 2 million about 800, 000 was spent on the study. The study was done by KPMG…a comprehensive study of the music sector,” Obour told Morning Starr host Francis Abban Thursday.

He continued that “about another GHC800, 000 was spent on the first Ghana music week festival…which we accounted for and it was out there in the public.”

Obour also dismissed claims that he has misapplied monies meant for the welfare of other musicians.

The award-winning musician has been described as greedy and a failure on several occasions.

But the “konkontibaa” hitmaker said allegations of greed are baseless and a deliberate attempt by his opponents to malign him.

He stated that the music industry has seen enormous transformation during his tenure.
