Actress and radio/TV presenter Regina Van Helvert’s movie dubbed “Jungle Justice” has won “best short movie” at the just ended Ghana Movie Awards.
The movie was launched before it’s release on 24th August 2018 at Alisa Hotel in Accra.
It was a campaign against public extrajudicial killings in Sub-Saharan Africa, most notably Ghana, Nigeria and Cameroon, where an alleged criminal is humiliated, beaten or summarily executed by a crowd or vigilantes.
The TV presenter and actress, explains the project is an educative way of informing the youth of the illegality of taking another’s life.
The movie attracted widespread social media presence as people imbibed with the message and joined the hashtag #stopjunglejustice across all social media platforms.
The movie depicts how a character’s life who was taken in a community and was scorched to ashes by his people for stealing.
