Celebrity lawyer, Maurice Ampaw in an interview with www.flexgh.com has referred to gays in Ghana as cowards.

The lawyer advised celebrated broadcast journalist, Kwasi Kyei Darkwa A. K. A KKD never to allow his son Darkwa Kyei Darkwa who recently admitted being gay to set foot into Ghana.

To him, the twenty-three year old young model after admitting publicly of being gay will attract all mockeries, and harassment any time he visits Ghana and that will do him a lot of harm by taking away his happiness.

Maurice continued to say that, gays in Ghana are not happy because they are mostly being monitored and hence, they are not permitted to engage in any sexual activities with other partners and Darkwa Kyei Darkwa, son of KKD might go through same humiliation should he visit Ghana especially after making it known publicly.

The Celebrity lawyer also referred to gays in Ghana as cowards. Though this statement didn’t go down well with some of our reporters, as some will have preferred him to use ‘law abiding’ instead of coward, the lawyer didn’t mind as he kept repeating the said word over and over again.

“Gays in Ghana are cowards, why do they fear to come out publicly to fight for their rights? Why do they fear to come out publicly and marry their partners just as we do to our wives? We have pastors, lawyers, doctors, who are gays. And so why won’t they gather the courage to walk on the streets with their partners just as we do with our wives and fiancees? he fumed.

He further said “There is nothing law abiding with them hiding their sexual orientations. It is who they are, why hide it then? They should be bold and come out and let us know who they really are”.
