George Quaye hits hard at critics of Jay Foley

Television personality, George Quaye, has expressed utmost disappointment in people who subjected Live FM’s Jay Foley to public backlash for allegedly mocking teen actor, Abraham Attah.

Jay Foley on his Live Breakfast Club played Attah’s acceptance speech at the 2016 Spirit Awards. His remark that he liked the way Attah said, ‘tenk you’ instead of ‘thank you’ was considered by a section of the public as a way of ridiculing the youngster.

Interestingly, some who had not heard exactly what Jay Foley said insulted him, adding that he was envious of Attah’s achievements.

Hours after the development, Jay Foley released the audio of his presentation, denied ever making mockery of the Beasts of No Nation actor but apologised to all who might have been offended by his actions.

George Quaye having listened to the audio believes the public was too harsh on Jay Foley. According to him, Foley’s remarks did not merit the insults.

I just listened to the Jay Foley audio and frankly I’m very disappointed that people came so hard at him for that comment. Really???? What on earth did he say wrong? Or could it be most of the people that commented and insulted hadn’t listened to the tape? I’m yet to hear that of Lexis Bill…but seriously let’s give Jay Foley some air to breath. Dude said nothing that should merit all the crap that’s been thrown at him. Totally unfair. Really????????? Smh.

Joy FM’s Lexis Bill and Hitz FM’s MzGee who were also reported to have mocked Attah on the same issue on their respective platforms have apologised to the youngster.

Meanwhile, Attah has stated that he fumbled because he did not script any acceptance speech.

Attah, 15, played child soldier, Agu, in the African war drama, which was directed by Cary Fukunaga. His first acting role has seen him win Black Film Critics Circle’s Rising Star Award, Best Young Actor at Venice Film Festival, Best Actor in Lead Role and Discovery of the Year at Ghana Movie Awards 2015.
