Ghana Carnival Berlin prepares to make a splash at Berlin Carnival of Cultures 2024

Ghana Carnival Berlin, the organizer behind the Ghanaian contingent in Germany, is gearing up to make waves at the upcoming Berlin Carnival of Cultures 2024.

Led by CEO Fatimah Adamu Suka, the team is set to dazzle audiences with their colourful displays and infectious energy from May 17th to 20th.

With a track record of success, having clinched the carnival title on three previous occasions, according to Fatimah Suka, Ghana Carnival Berlin is poised to make a triumphant return to the streets of Berlin.

However, this year, their preparations are not just about putting on a spectacular show; they're also championing a cause close to their hearts: environmental conservation.

In an interview with GhanaWeb, Suka emphasized the importance of environmental stewardship, particularly focusing on the issue of beach pollution. Suka expressed her concern about the state of Ghana's beaches and its impact on tourism potential.

In response, Ghana Carnival Berlin is planning to take action by organizing beach clean-up initiatives in Ghana, highlighting the importance of preserving natural spaces for future generations.

“Sometimes, when I’m in Ghana, I just feel so sad about pollution at our beaches,” she said. “I feel like we could increase our tourism potential if we took better care of them. We're thinking about coming to Ghana to clean up our beaches.”

But their commitment to the environment doesn't stop there. Suka outlined plans to promote sustainable practices within the carnival itself, advocating for the use of eco-friendly alternatives such as paper bags or reusable cotton bags over traditional plastic options. By leading by example, Ghana Carnival Berlin hopes to inspire others to adopt greener habits and reduce their ecological footprint.

“Instead of using plastic bags, we can switch to paper bags, which are more environmentally friendly. Or maybe we could use bags made of cotton that we can always use, wash, and reuse,” she advocated.

The carnival wouldn't be complete without the infectious rhythms and melodies of Ghanaian music. Suka promises to bring the city streets to life with a fusion of live performances by talented Ghanaian artists and energetic DJ sets. With a blend of vibrant colours, pulsating beats, and infectious energy, Ghana Carnival Berlin is set to captivate audiences and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Ghana.

As the countdown to the Berlin Carnival of Cultures 2024 begins, all eyes are on Ghana Carnival Berlin as they prepare to showcase their creativity, talent, and commitment to making a positive impact on both the cultural and environmental fronts.
