Ghana Carnival Berlin takes Berlin Carnival of Cultures 2024 by storm with cultural celebration

Ghana Carnival Berlin, the beacon of Ghanaian culture in Germany, once again stole the spotlight at the Berlin Carnival of Cultures 2024.

Led by the CEO, Fatimah Adamu Suka, the Ghanaian contingent dazzled audiences with a spectacle of colours, rhythms, and a profound message of environmental stewardship.

From May 17th to 20th, the streets of Berlin were filled with the lively sounds of Ghanaian music, as revellers, dressed in stunning kente cloth and other traditional attire, paraded through the city. With the iconic red, yellow, and green of the Ghanaian flag waving proudly, the spirit of Ghana filled the festivities, captivating the hearts of thousands of onlookers.

Live performances by talented Ghanaian artists and energetic DJ sets made the streets of Berlin pulse with the rhythms and melodies of Ghana. From traditional drumbeats to modern Afrobeat hits, Ghanaian music echoed through the diverse crowd.

Ghana Carnival Berlin not only aimed to entertain but also to advocate for a cause close to their hearts: environmental conservation. In an interview with GhanaWeb earlier, Suka articulated her concerns about beach pollution in Ghana and its detrimental impact on tourism potential.

In response, Ghana Carnival Berlin mobilized its forces, announcing plans to organize beach clean-up initiatives in Ghana, underscoring the critical importance of preserving natural spaces for future generations.

Within the carnival itself, Ghana Carnival Berlin championed sustainable practices, advocating for the use of eco-friendly alternatives such as paper bags or reusable cotton bags over traditional plastic options.

As the festivities drew to a close, it was evident that Ghana Carnival Berlin had achieved its dual objectives: to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Ghana and to advocate for environmental conservation.
