Ghana Chamber of Mines appoints New Chief Executive Officer

Accra, Oct. 6, GNA-Dr Toni Aubynn has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Chamber of Mines effective Saturday, October 1. He takes over from Ms Joyce Rosalyn Aryee who retired from the Chamber after 10 years of illustrious service.

A statement issued in Accra on Thursday by Mr Dan Owiredu, President, Ghana Chamber of Mines, said until his appointment, Dr Aubynn wa= s the Director of Corporate Affairs for Tullow Ghana Limited, Operator of the Jubilee Oil Fields in Ghana, a position he held for 16 months. He brings very useful expertise and leadership to the mining industry with demonstrated ability to maintain constructive and strategic engagement with the various stakeholders in the industry. Dr Aubynn joins the Chamber with over 20 years working experience, ove= r 14 of which have been in senior management positions in the extractive industry. Prior to his Tullow appointment, Dr Aubynn worked for Gold Fields Ghana, the leading gold producer in Ghana as Head of Corporate Affairs and Sustainable Development for over 12 years during which he successfully managed the image and reputation of the mining giant and ensured a positive engagement with the Company's stakeholders at both national and regional levels. He is credited with the provision of thought leadership in the development of Gold Fields Ghana's community development funding vehicle, the Gold Fields Ghana Foundation, and its strategic flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Programme, Sustainable Economic Empowerment and Development programme, popularly known as, SEED.

Dr Aubynn also played a leading role in brokering Ghana's first majo= r corporate sponsorship of sports, with an initial $6.4 million sponsorship for six years of the Senior National Soccer Team, the Black Stars, the result of which included Ghana's maiden qualification and impressive performances at 2006 World Cup, and subsequent excellent performance by the team at continental and world stages.
