Ghana Is Out Of MNET Idols West Africa...Jodie And Mercy Are In

Wed, 21 Mar 2007 Source: ghanamusic.com

Last night the Idols WA results show on MNet confirmed that Ama's performance the night before was not good enough to get her into the top 10.

The young talented Ama did not do her song justice and it is being speculated whether this was from nerves as she was the first in her group to sing.

Ernest however made it into the best three of his group but failed to make the mark that would get him into the top 10 even though Dede said that he was the best contestant he had auditioned in Ghana .

Is this because that Ghanaians did not vote massively or that the Nigerian population is much more than the Ghanaian population?

Jodie's name was the first to be announced followed by Mercy whose six feet, three inch body fell to the ground and shouted 'Oh!' She knelt, bent over, with her face facing the stage floor, thanking God.

The other not so fortunate four in Group 3 - Ernest, Confidence, Ama and Michael - showed a rare spirit of sportsmanship, generously and cheerfully congratulating Jodie and Mercy.

There are now six contestants in the Top 10: Omawumi, Timi, Eric, Jerrilyn, Jodie and Mercy. They are a terrific group, full of raw talent and dramatic performances that will make the Top 10 stage a must see.

Jodie says of her Top 24 triumph: "First, I thank the almighty God for his favour and mercy. I feel great. I'm happy. I wasn't too sure I was going through. I never knew people loved me this much. I thank them for appreciating my humble performance. I thank everybody in Africa and the globe. Thanks dad for your rare fatherly support. Thanks for being there always."

Still shocked by her triumph, Mercy told us: "I'm short of words. God is good. It's not by might or by power, but by His spirit, mercy and favour. I feel blessed by Africa and favoured by God. I ought to start work in one of the biggest telecom companies in Nigeria today, but I can't help following my dreams and I know God will favour me with the company and they will allow me follow my dream to the end. Thank you everybody, once again."

Stay tuned for Group 4, the last Top 24 group, on Sunday 25 March on M-Net.
