Ghana Movie Awards Opens 2011 Entries

Gollywood Productions, organizers of the

prestigious Ghana movie awards christened MAG Awards has opened entry for Ghanaian

filmmakers to submit their works for consideration.

The second edition of the awards ceremony

which is aimed at honoring excellence in Ghana’s movie industry is scheduled

for December 25 2011. It will also be televised to millions of viewers across Africa

and beyond. Nominations will be announced in November 2011 with an anticipated

huge party at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Kumasi.

Deadline for all submissions is in October

2011 and submission forms can be downloaded from the Ghanamovieawards.com or

handpicked at the Gollywood productions offices opposite Cottage Annex adjacent

Metro TV.

Each completed entry form must be

accompanied by all the supporting materials listed on the submission forms- the

synopsis of the film, producers, 2 DVD copies of the 120 minutes movie, proof

of the right to submit etc.

Also submitted movies must be movies released

from the editing bench of production houses within October 2010 and October

2011 and not necessarily movies that were released on the movie market in year under

review. Hence all movies must indicate year of copyright.

The awards ceremony was on Wednesday morning

launched via a shot ceremony in Accra at the Golden Tulip Hotel. This brought

together a number of stakeholders including actor, producers, director and crew

members as well as the inky fraternity and Government officials.

Among them were David Dontoh, Majid

Michel, Van Vicker, Nadia Buari, Augustine Abbey, Socrates Sarfo, Nana Ama

McBrown, Mr. Beautiful, Juliet Ibrahim, Emelia Brobbey, Rose Mensah aka Kyeiwaa,

Fred Nuamah executive producer of the awards and more.

In all, over 30 awards will be given in

various categories including Best Actor and ActressIn Lead Roles during award’s

night in December.

Ghana Movie

Awards’ Committee headed by ace actor, David Dontoh has added three more

categories to the previous categories, namely Best Cameo, Best Actor & Best Actress

TV Series andfinally Best Picture TV Series.

Awards is being organized by GP Ltd in collaboration with Multi TV’s Cine AFRIK

channel and Film Producers Association of Ghana and supported by Lufthansa

Airlines, Golden Tulip Hotel (Accra, Kumasi & Lagos), United Airlines and

Brussels Airlines.

Further details about the award ceremony

will be communicated to the media later on.

The award ceremony was established last

year to honor excellence in Ghana’s movie industry. Last year’s event honored

and brought together movie stakeholder across the country including Nigeria’s

top actress Genevieve Nnaji and actor cum Big Brother All Stars winner, Uti

Nwachukwu.
