Ghana will celebrate fashion and design week next year to educate, develop and expose the country’s fashion and creative industry to a wider audience.
The three-day event would be the first in three years to premiere the fashion and creative business and also celebrate Ghanaian and international designers, according to a statement issued by the organisers in Accra on Monday.
It is intended to bring creative Ghanaian designers and those in the Diaspora, alongside international designers to showcase their collections to national and international retail buyers, African neo-fashion consumers, the media as well as fashion celebrities.
The statement said Ghana Fashion and Design Week 2012 would incorporate international standard fashion catwalk show, with exquisite on trend collection mixed with African inspired collection.
There would also be an inspirational exhibition which would showcase a range of creative brands, a fashion business seminar with briefings provided by industry experts, with network opportunity. The statement said it would be a platform which would bring vision, education and creation to both emerging and established designers to tap into an inspiring venture.
