Chester Anie, popularly known in showbiz circles as ‘Uncle Chester’ has lashed out at the fashion and modelling industry in the country.
'Uncle Chester', a lawyer of nearly 30 years’ experience and an entertainer, was once the exciting host of the kids Reality Show on TV, 'Time With Chester'.
Mr. Anie noted that there was the need for the country to do away with mediocrity in the industry. He rebuked the act whereby people designed their clothes and hanged it in public spaces on sale.
“An industry doesn’t fall from the sky, it’s from hard work…. If we want to have an industry, let’s stop the mediocre. Stop churning out those cheap stuff we do and hang them all over the streets and everything. Let’s find our niche… and if we were to stop the pull him down syndrome and envy, jealousy and insult and petty abuse, we would all go so far’, he said.
Additionally this is what he had to say about the modelling industry in the country: “is there a modelling industry in Ghana, no! You can’t say I’m a model so I sleep all day. Get a job, do something and then you’re part of modelling. Its’ an add-on till we create an industry.
'Uncle Chester' was speaking during the red carpet session at the ‘Rhythms On Da Runway’ held at the State Banquet hall in Accra.
The event was organized by events host, fashion designer, broadcast journalist and Pan-Africanist Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD) and his clothing line NINETEEN57 in collaboration with the EIB GROUP.
