Once again, another disappointed housemate left the Big Brother Africa 3 (BBA 3) house on Sunday, and this time around it was Ghana's Wilhelmina Abu-Andani, who was known as Mimi in the house.
Ironically, Mimi was one housemate who was overly confident that even if she were to be nominated for possible eviction, she would not get evicted. As she often put it 'I know what viewers want', but the danger of the game is that once inside the house, one does not get any feedback on what irks the popular reality show followers.
The Ghanaian was evicted by 10 countries, while her fellow housemates who were also up for possible eviction - Zambia's Takondwa Nkonjera and South Africa's Thamsanqa Prusent (Thami) - received three and zero votes, respectively. Mimi's eviction, however, was not shocking as the voting public had been itching to vote her out, but were hindered by her luck of not being nominated for eviction.
Towards the end of the week, it was already obvious that she was going. To some degree, the viewers seemed to be conniving through the BBA 3 forums, they kept advising one another to vote Mimi out as it might take a while before she was nominated again.
It was her first time to be up for eviction and, unfortunately for her, it turned out to be the coup de grace - the final punch that sent her packing. Some messages both on the BBA 3 website and captions on DStv's channel 198 read: "People this may be our only chance to evict Mimi, TK will be up for eviction again, so let's vote Mimi out this week and TK will follow next weekend".
The interaction, especially through the BBA3 website, seems to have worked. Mimi was destroyed by her very strategy, and up to now, it is still unclear, whether gossiping is part of her life, or whether she just made it part of her game plan.
If she was faking the gossip part, she did it extremely well, and it just seemed like it was indeed, a part of her. Her gossiping tendencies cost her big time, as that is mostly what made her lose her popularity with viewers, and of course some of her comments while in the house about knowing what viewers wanted. While an optimistic approach to life is often encouraged, hers was a little too much, and must have contributed to her downfall.
Meanwhile, the week prior to her exit was quite eventful, Botswana's representative, Tawana Lebani, 31, shocked many when she and Zimbabwe's Munyaradzi Chidzonga, 22, referred to in the house as Munya, engaged in a sexual act that of course, just happened out of the blue.
It is still not clear whether the sexual encounter will affect their stay in the house. In the morning, the duo just continued with their lives as if nothing had happened. The biggest event of the week, perhaps, was Munya's disappearance on Saturday, and the arrival of a new temporary housemate from Finland.
While the housemates were not told where Munya had gone to, they were pleasantly surprised Monday morning when they found John, the Finnish housemate, in the garden dressed like a snowman. While he confessed that he was nervous about entering BBA 3 house, the 'flying' Finn quickly adapted and seems to be enjoying himself in BBA 3 house. John confessed that this is his first trip to Africa.
Munya in the meantime, also entered the Finland Big Brother house in Helsinki. Upon entering the house in Finland, Munya was just as surprised as the Finnish housemate in Johannesburg. And one of Munya's first utterances once in the house was to say, "You are so beautiful, damn" to a female Finnish housemate .
