Legendary Highlife/Afro Pop musician Kojo Antwi has said many Ghanaians have lost their patriotism to the state of Ghana because the country’s educational structure does not encourage that.

The ‘Maestro’ speaking on ‘Anopa Kasapa’ with Fiifi Banson on Kasapa 102.5Fm said, Ghana’s First president, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s leadership has been the only government able to tackle issues of patriotism hence formed the ‘Young Pioneers’.

“The only government in power who tried to gather the youth to teach them about the love for the country was Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.”

According to him, when individuals develop love for their country, it is obvious one will avoid doing anything that may affect his fellow or the country.

“I think we are losing the love for our country because everyone is thinking of himself and not the neighbours but when we learn to love this country we will realise that our forefathers discovered this gold but they didn’t mine them until it got to our turn so why are we illegally mining them to destroy our water bodies and other properties.”

Mr. Antwi believes that building a better Ghana should be the goal of all citizens and generations yet unborn.

The former GHAMRO Chairman, has joined the fight as a patriotic Ghanaian citizen in a bid to ensure that the destruction caused by activities of illegal miners also known as ‘galamsey’ is curbed.
