Entertainment pundit Vida Adutwumwaa believes that Ghana’s movie industry will struggle to get back on its feet.
In recent times, some movie actors and actresses have blamed the failure of the industry on juju. Reacting to this position, Vida Adutwumwaa indicated that it will be difficult to address the issue.
“The problems of the movie industry will not end anytime soon. Imagine when a big player calls them into one room to decipher the cause of the industry’s failure, and people start blaming it on juju, lack of funding, and stereotype characterization,” she said.
“As of now, we do not have a clear understanding of the cause of their failure as an industry. They must sit down and identify the root cause of their failure to address it.
"That is when policymakers will also take them seriously. We are entering the season, and if this is how they’ll go about things, then it will take the movie industry years to gain the needed relevance,” she said on UTV's United Showbiz hosted by MzGee on August 10, 2024.
