“We would have been rich by now if there was a local digital sales platform in Ghana where people can buy our music.”

The above are the words of Ghanaian music group Gallaxy in an interview with Bright Ellis on Kuul 103.5 FM in Ho the Volta Region.

The group which is currently on a radio tour in the Volta Region explained that the various free download websites that published their song ‘Gborgborvor’ upon its release, recorded a huge number of downloads but did not reflect in their pockets and that is the major challenge facing Ghana music in general which stakeholders and government needs to pay attention to.

The ‘Gborgborvor’ hit makers also added that even though they sell their songs on outlets like iTunes and the rest, the returns are not huge and that any investor who will pump money into a local digital sales platform won’t regret it.
