Ghana's tourists' sites to feature on Discovery Channel

Accra, March 08, GNA - A group of American companies are in the country to film some tourism sites for an hour-long documentary to be featured on the Discovery Channel.

The documentary dubbed "Presidential Tour of Ghana" will feature interesting places such as the Kakum National Park in Cape Coast, Boabeng Fiema Monkey Sanctuary in the Brong Ahafo Region and other interesting sites in the northern and other parts of the country. Mr Forest Sawyer, a television producer and a correspondent for several media networks in the US, told the Ghana News Agency that the hour-long documentary would be shown on various Discovery Channels throughout the world.

The aim, he said, was to educate Americans and the rest of the world about Ghana and Africa, its beauty, challenges and opportunities. "We want to learn about Africa through Ghana, which is said to be a gateway to Africa," he said.

Describing Ghana as a very remarkable country with a good economy, Mr Sawyer said "We will also like to talk to the people of Ghana, introducing them to the rest of the world".

On Tourism, Mr Sawyer said Ghana abounds with many tourist sites and the industry could become larger if its tourist sites were made known to the world.
