All vendors had been paid and so had been the venue. Family and friends had been served invitations and were making vigorous preparation to be a part of the big day.

With just a week left to the big day, the groom arrived in the country from his permanent base, Germany and was all fired up to have the time of his life as he was going to officially begin a new journey chapter with the love of his life.

Then on Sunday, March 15 2020, the news that will change all their plans was announced. The president imposed a ban on all public gatherings including weddings as part of measures to curb the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic in the country.

Persons who wanted to go ahead with funerals or wedding ceremonies, however, could do so with a guest list of not more than 25 people.

Michael and Patricia, like many other couples who were set to get married during these times, were left with the dilemma of either calling off their wedding till the ban on public gatherings is lifted or go ahead with their plans with just a few people in attendance.

The decision, they say wasn’t easy but in the end, they decided to go ahead with their plans and have only a few family members and close friends in attendance.

One month after enjoying married life, Mr and Mrs Oti sits down with GhanaWeb’s Benefo Buabeng (Abrantepa) to discuss how life has been so far and how the Coronavirus pandemic has affected plans they made for their marriage.
