Ghanaian rap legend, Obrafour has said that Ghanaian pastors have failed us.
Known for giving us one of the best albums ever in the music industry, “Pae Mu Ka” the Ghana ‘rap sofo’ has opened up about his new single “Nkontompo”.
Obrafour told Tigomusic.com.gh that the new single which will be released exclusively on Deezer is food for the soul.
He said: “You know how they say music is the food for the soul, replace music with ‘Nkontompo then you have a better definition for music.”
Obrafour said that the new single will let fans change their perception about him leaving rap for singing.
“‘Nkontompo’ is an African Hip Hop song, I threw in lot of work as compared to ‘Pimpinaa’ featuring Bisa Kdei hence people will have to take their time and listen to the song to enjoy it. Allow the music to feed your soul, he told us.”
In answering the question about whether the song is coming too quickly after ‘Pimpinaa’, Ghana’s rap legend noted that times have changed, now the industry demands you putting out songs frequently, it is more like the strong shall survive hence Obrafour is keeping up with time.
When asked about his reasons for titling the song as“Nkontompo”, the multiple award-winning rapper said, “The song came about because I think pastors have failed us, we should ask ourselves whether we are happy with the current situation in the world, there are lot of lies and deceit in the system from politicians and more hence the song address our current situations in the world.”
The rapper further said “My music has never been for lazy thinkers, What I tried to do in the past was to get the attention of the older generation to listen to Hip life and now they are paying so much attention hence I intend to keep up with that trend.”
His new album “Obra Foforo” which he says will be released in October has songs like “Twe Mame”, “Pimpinaa” and “Odasani”featuring M.anifest. Even though “Twe Mame” was leaked into the system, it is doing well in other regions and yet to pick up in the capital.
Obrafour was so proud of how “Pimpinaa” is climbing up fast and said it is one of the most shocking songs from Obrafour this year; as for “Odasani”, a Highlife song produced by Wei Ye Oteng, it was an opener and is still people’s favourite.
