UK-based Nigerian radio and TV personality, Adesope Olajide, has called on Ghanaian artistes to actively promote their local media platforms in an effort to grow the entertainment industry of the country.

Speaking in an interview with Joy News, Adesope advised artistes to showcase any interviews and appearances on local media to enhance their visibility internationally.

This, he believes, will elevate the perception of local media and make them the go-to platforms for international visitors.

“If the artistes go to interview on this FM, on that FM, post it, show it, let the world know that this is local media that's supporting the culture back home here. And that way, when people come here, they think of those local media first, and they also think highly of those platforms," he urged.

He acknowledged the challenges faced by home-based media in going international, stating that a collaborative effort is required between artistes and media platforms to project Ghanaian culture on an international level.

"What probably needs to be done is that the media back home also needs to research where those audiences are, dig a little bit deeper into what exactly they might enjoy more, and try to expand on that.

“But for me, I really think the power is a collaborative effort. The media back home has one job. That job is to project Ghanaian artistes and creatives to Ghana and also make sure that when the world comes to Ghana to see them, they see the presentation on an international level. You know, it's not about really going international. It's more about the artistes working with the media platforms to let the world see what the media is doing here," he said.
