“What a man can do a woman can do better,” goes a popular saying.
This is the story of Dora Portuphy, a Ghanaian woman who finds herself in the male-dominated vocation of barbering.
Portuphy is the biological mother of Ghanaian blogger Edward Blagogee of Blagogee.com.
On Friday 17th April 2020, during the partial lockdown ongoing in Accra -Ghana, the affable woman visited her son to give him a haircut.
According to her, she started barbering at a tender age and used to do it for her nuclear family, extended family, friends, and other acquaintances.
30 years later, she continues to do what God has blessed her with.
On Blagogee’s Instagram page, a snippet of the interview has been published, with Ghanaian celebrities and followers alike praising Mrs. Portuphy.
“God bless mummy more life and blessings our God on Earth,” said the 2015 BET award winner Stonebwoy in the comments section.
Fellow musician, Epixode, comedian DKB, as well as legendary dancer Paa Tee have also shared open-handed reviews of the clip, which is fast becoming popular on social media.
