One of Ghana’s finest actors, Kobby Acheampong has explained the reason why the Nigerian movie industry, Nollywood is far ahead of Ghana’s industry.

In an interview with Nana Osei Kesse, aka Mr Bonez on Music Plus show on Kessben Television, the ‘Faithful Sin’ actor expounded that most Ghanaian Filmmakers are scared to take big risks with regards to movie production.

“The problem I have realised is that Ghanaians (producers) hate taking risks, a Nigerian will take a risk and that risk will a yield good result,” Kobby Acheampong said. According to him, when a Ghanaian producer invest money in a movie and that movie fails to sell, the person then gives up easily.

He also disagreed with the notion that the Ghanaian movie industry is dead. Kobby, however admitted that the industry is seriously struggling.

He was hopeful that with the help of more investors and a little government support the Ghana movie industry will be as vibrant as that of Hollywood and Bollywood.

Kobby Acheampong also used the opportunity to promote the premiere of a movie he is starred in titled, ‘Sunset At Noon’ at the Watch and Dine Cinema at the Kumasi City Mall on 4 August this year. The movie was directed by award-winning Pascal Amanfo. Majid Michel, John Dumelo, Maame Adwoa, Roselyn Ngissah and Timothy Bentum are all part of the cast of the movie.

Finally, Kobby Acheampong revealed that Nana Ama Mcbrown, Jackie Appiah, Yvonne Okoro, Yvonne Nelson and Maame Adwoa are his top 5 actresses in Ghana. He admitted that he crushes all these 5 talented actresses.
