Ghanaian football fan gains global recognition

Ibrahim Kailani Kpa, a Ghanaian football fan in Brazil is in a pole position to win the “Best Football Fan” award at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

The 30-year-old rasta-haired, who is a Tiler by profession, has been shortlisted by football fans through a special text message promotion "Fantastico" run by TV Globo"– the biggest television station in Brazil.


He is among five other nationals selected to compete for the prestigious “Best Football Fan” at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.


Kpa, dresses in an ancient “fugu” designed for war leaders with huge beads on his neck, a hat and a powdered face to match.

He is a member of the Millennium Supporters Union and has become the toast of football fans in Brazil as his unique way of dressing and chanting during matches has shifted attention to the Ghana camp at Natal, with the international media seeking to have interviews with him.


He told the GNA Sports that “I am always overwhelmed when fans approach me to take pictures with me."
