Ghana’s movie industry has come under negative criticism in recent times by Ghanaians due to some poor production of movies that the movie producers and directors have been showing.

The Public Relations Officer of the Film Producers Association of Ghana ( FIPAG ), Nana Yaa Serwaa Osei, has boldly stated that the movie industry in Ghana has collapsed due to some of the criticisms from the local TV and Radio stations.

Speaking to www.flexgh.com, the Public Relations OIfficer of the Association said that the media is much powerful in the society especially radio and television, so if they continue with the negative things about the industry it will totally collapse very soon which will do more harm than good to the country.

According to the PRO, some presenters have deliberately over the years decided to dent the image of the movie industry for their selfish gains. And for some they do that to be awarded all in the name of being famous.

She explained that, all they do is to expose the dark side of the industry to the public. But she believes if the industry finally collapses, the media would have nothing to talk about.

She therefore urged entertainment show panelists to stop criticizing the local movies and do that to the foreign series that are translated into Twi which is having negative impact of the film industry in Ghana, because if they help to push these telenovelas from the country and give way to the local movies, so many job opportunities would be created for Ghanaians.

She further entreated the various radio and television platforms to discuss the local movies and also constructively criticize them when the need arises.

Nana Yaa Serwa Osei again disclosed that FIPAG is working so hard to revive the industry. They are working on coming up with rules and regulations that would be adhered to by the players of movie industry.

She quickly asked the various entertainment presenters on radio and television stations to call the right people on issues concerning the movie industry than calling anybody at all to talk about the industry.
