Hip-hop artiste, Joey B says Ghanaian artistes deserved the humiliation they suffered from Nigerian fans a fortnight ago when Menzgold Zylofon Music held a historic concert in Nigeria as part of its launch in the most-populous West African nation.
Ghana’s top-ranked artistes like Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale who performed at the show experienced mute and unmoved reactions from Nigerian fans during their performances. The crowd who attended the concert were conversing and did not dance or sing along to the song’s by the Ghanaian Dancehall lords and hardly appreciated other Ghanaian artistes who performed on the night.
However commenting on the matter for the first time on SVTV Africa, Darryl Paa Kwesi Bannerman-Martin popularly known in music cycles as Joey B disclosed that Nigerians fans were inappreciative because Ghanaian musicians don’t lend a helping to each other and rather focus their energies on taking a swipe at each other.
“I passionately think that we deserved that treatment because we are always pushing for Nigerians which is cool, but do they do that for us no. We are no really supporting ourselves too much, we are really concentrating on beefs and not really mobilizing to put solid materials out,” Joey B told host Ayisha Bayipa on SVTV Africa.
According to the ‘Tonga’ hitmaker, American musicians have built a power circle for their industry because they collaborate with each other and Nigeria has imitated the same principle. He argued that Ghanaian musician to the extra mile to publicize their songs but Ghana music has failed to progress due to the unending hatred among musicians in the country.
