Musician, Eshun, has taken a swipe at Ghanaians for accepting Patapaa’s kind of songs and totally forgoing other relevant genres.
Speaking on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM yesterday, Eshun said Ghanaians were forcing musicians who are not dynamic in nature go hungry because they hop from trend to trend ignoring “better” songs from other artists.
She cited the “One Corner” hit-maker, Patapaa Amisty’s songs as the current trend Ghanaians follow without paying attention to other musicians.
“We think when one style is trending we should veer to that side. Now Patapaa is trending and everyone is going to that side… Ghanaians stick to one trend and ignore other creative songs of people making them useless. I believe that is one of the reasons people are called old artists. It doesn’t encourage people who are versatile. Ghanaians encourage one particular trend. We clip the wings of artists…” Eshun told Andy Dosty.
Meanwhile, reacting to her statements, Mark Okraku Mantey advised Eshun to focus on boosting her career through several channels and leave Patapaa to do his kind of songs.
According to him, although Eshun has every right to vent her woes in the music industry she should understand it’s a worldwide problem when it comes to dynamism in the music sphere.
“Patapaa makes commercial songs. It’s a worldwide something. Don’t blame Patapaa. We should blame those who run the radio stations and go on air…” Mark said.
“She has a big talent – a big one that a lot of us have underrated. She has a big showmanship, unlike the Efyas. She has got the moves and physique…” he maintained.
Eshun is currently promoting her song dubbed: “I want”.
