Ghanaian music diva Vera Hamenoo-Kpeda known in the music circles as MzVee has in an interview ousted out the perception in the minds of many that, secular artistes are far from spreading the gospel of Christ.

The daavi singer in an interview with Frank Kwabena Owusu A.K.A Franky5 on the TIG (This Is Gospel) Show on Hitz FM hinted that, people have limited the scope of Gospel music to only quoting verses and talking about Jesus and other prophets in the bible hence, they see any other musician who centers his or her song on love and other social issues as agents of the devil, a perception she calls hypocritical.

To her, people who do secular songs are not evil and that they contribute a lot to the kingdom business. She believes they are only paying heed to their God giving talent which should not be taking out of context.

“I have so many of my fans who message me and they actually pray for me and this is the nicest part of what I do. People are so emotional about some of my songs and they always tell in messages how I inspire them with my songs and how their lives are changed by a certain message in my songs. And it doesn’t have to be some type of gospel song that people want to hear before they say it’s a Christian song” she said.

When asked by the host how she is being accepted both in her community and in the church, the natural girl hit maker had this to say.

“I am not looking for people to accept me, I think that is such a wrong thinking. Doing that will only take away who you are.You don’t have to wait for people to accept you or prove to anybody you believe in God.That is the worst thing you can do for yourself.

The relationship between me and God is personal and not a community something or a group chart on whatsApp. He is my personal person and I believe that through that, I will get to know who he is. I love God because He has done a lot for me and I keep a very personal relationship with him and I don’t have to go about telling people about it. I am who I am not because of me but because of the one who sits up there and so why shouldn’t I be grateful and thank Him? She asked.

MzVee who started her music career right after secondary school was raised in a very devoted Christian background and though a dance hall musician, a very respectful and God fearing MzVee has done tremendously well for herself and Ghana with her singing prowess. Being consistent over the years, MzVee remains the only Ghanaian dance hall female musician to have been nominated for the BET awards in 2015 not to talk about the numerous awards she has earned under her record label ‘Lynx Entertainment’ and has kept Ghanaians on their dancing toes with songs like natural girl, come over, make I shine, daavi amongst others.
