Ghanaian model Isaac Ahor Larbi says he has never come across a gay model in his career and doubts if there is one in Ghana’s modelling industry.

He told NEWS-ONE in an exclusive interview that a lot of people have wrong impressions about models and perceive them to be gays and womanisers.

“In Ghana we misconstrue modelling. They think models are gays, womanisers and all that but I think modelling is just like any other career like somebody opted to be a doctor, teacher etc. I opted to be a model and that is my career and passion. So I see no reason why people misconstrue what I do for a living.”

Isaac is an enterprising model with the Exopa Modeling Agency. He won Exopa New Face contest for the male category in November 2013 and went on to place third at the event’s grand finale in December.

Prior to joining Exopa, he had a personal modelling coach who had been assisting him with the rudiments of modelling. Aside modelling he wants to be an actor, adding, “I also want to own a beauty parlour and I hope to make that a reality one day.”

According to him, nobody had accused him of being gay because he is a model, but he has often heard people say that about male models in general.

“…People say it because of how models dress. I don’t blame them because some people also feel that they are models when they are not models. I remember I met some guy who claimed to be coming from Exopa but he wasn’t. When you study his lifestyle, the way he dresses and the way he does his stuff, it depicts gays. So why won’t people accuse you. But I have never seen a model who is a gay before since I started modelling at Exopa,” he added.

Isaac hails from Winneba but he grew up at Burma Camp in Accra. He started education from Air Force Basic School and continued at the Okuapeman Senior School in the Eastern Region. He is currently at the IPMC reading System Engineering.
