The ‘return’ of Kojo Yankson to radio, Monday, after serving a two-week suspension has attracted interesting comments from a section of the public who cannot wait to be served good breakfast on radio with the morning man on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show.
The Multimedia Group Limited, owners of Accra-based Joy FM suspended Kojo following certain comments he made on the Thursday June 23, 2016 edition of the show, which management of the company deemed unsavoury and a dent on the image of the company.
He was said to have attacked President Mahama, describing him as an armed robber. The morning man took to social media to apologies unreservedly after his comments of the president attracted some back lash.
“In referring to the recent media attention over the President riding a motorcycle, receiving a car, and owning a gun, I joked that armed robbers could also get media attention for similar reasons… As a communicator, I ought to understand that people react differently to information, and jokes about any divisive issue – even when told without malice – will not go down well with everyone. For this reason, I would like to apologise without reservation to any of our listeners – including the President himself – who may have found my joke distasteful,” portions of his apology on Facebook read.
The news of Kojo’s comeback has taken centre stage in conversations on social media. Some comments captured by Abrantepa.com suggest that some listeners of the show have sorely missed him and are expecting that he delivers when he sits behind the console.
