Christmas can be a time of celebration, but for Holland-based Ghanaian musician, King Solomon, also known as Nii Mantse; it’s a season people can be running the risk of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) especially HIV and AIDS.

He has therefore called on the people of Ghana and Ghanaians living abroad to improve their sexual health practices over Christmas in a bid to stem the “rising tide” of STIs.

He made this call during an interview at the release of his current album, "Alomo taa front" to the Ghanaian market.

"Alomo taa front" is currently enjoying airplay and for his part, he has decided that his first 500 customers to purchase his current album will receive a free but expensive vibrating ringed condom as a gift and added that more gifts will follow.

He therefore urged lovers of good music to get copies and also visit his website for more information about his music and him.

"It’s true I sing about love that is the reason why I must also help in the creation of awareness of HIV and AIDS in our society.

"During the partying season, people should think twice before engaging in unprotected sex if their partner's sexual health status is unknown. If they do decide to have sex, they should use a condom as this provides the most reliable means of protection against most STIs when used properly", he said.

The advice from King Solomon comes amid fears that Christmas is also a season of unprotected sex. Nii Mantse said, many people who carry sexually transmitted infections are unaware of the fact, putting their health and other people’s well-being at risk.

“People should be especially careful during the Christmas season. Improving sexual health and increasing the use of contraceptives such as condoms will help reduce this increasing problem.”

Adding, that people should remember to take precautions reduce the risk of getting unwanted Christmas present.
