Music producer Ahmed Banda aka Bandex and highlife artiste Ofori Amponsah’s publicist, Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo clashed on 95.1’s Total Entertainment show in Accra Wednesday evening over Bandex’s plans to release Ofori Amponsah’s first highlife album after making U-turn to highlife.
The publicist for Mr. All4Real, Arnold told Christian Agyei Frimpong, host of the show that management have no problem with the music producer’s decision to release an album of their artiste he recorded many years ago.
According to him, the new album, “Chooboi” Bandex has announced releasing in the second week of November will not disrupt the master plan they have for their artiste.
“What you are hearing from different quarters will not distract as from pushing alewa. Our focus is on Ofori’s comeback highlife album and Alewa. If Bandex wants to promote his stuffs, that’s his business” Arnold said.
He continued that “Nobody has held Bandex’s neck not to do what he wants to do. If Bandex thinks he has rights to a song or album that is Ofori’s works, he can go ahead and do whatever he wants to do with it. He is doing what he wants to do and we as his management are also doing what we want to do”.
On whether Bandex can sell Ofori Ampnsah’s album he produced years ago without the artiste and his management’s support, the music producer said he has several ways of promoting the album. He disclosed that he was not happy about the manner Ghanaians ridiculed Ofori after his comeback to highlife so he will not involve him in his promotional plans just to save his face from any further public mockery.
“Ofori Amponsah cannot tell me that he will not grant interviews to help my album sales but the problem is looking at how Ghanaians have disturbed him on radio, I won’t allow him to come again for interviews to release my album. I will never do that. Some radio presenters will even put the album promotion aside and ask him questions which will bring different issues so I will never do this. That is the truth.” Bandex stated.
Bandex on Wednesday released “Odo Yewu”, the first single from Ofori Amponsah’s first comeback highlife album “Chooboi”. The song “Odo Yewu” off the 8 track album “Chooboi” features Ghana’s contestant at the ongoing UK X-Factor,Reggie Zippy, Kofi Nti and Kofi B.
