David A. Masterwille who won the Golden Documentary Award of the Golden Movie Awards 2016 edition with his first feature documentary “GOLD IS HERE” once again premieres “GILBERTE’S WORLD” at the Amphitheatre, Alliance Française Accra.

The film chronicles a tumultuous period in the life of a renowned Mauritian artist, Mrs. Gilberte Marimootoo-Natchoo, as she struggles with severe mental breakdown while hosting her filmmaker friend, David, from Ghana. David puts on his filmmaker’s hat and tries to examine the troubled mind of Gilberte as she increasingly drifts towards a suicidal state of mind.

David says, “I want this film to highlight the fragility of the creative mind, and the role family support plays to help artists suffering depression to recover and regain their dignity. I seek to preserve the integrity of the generous people who welcomed me and my camera into their space even in their most vulnerable moments. Though I intend to be as honest to the covered story as possible, I will be guided by the trust between myself and those filmed and present a film that will be embraced by both parties. Filled with encountered drama, the style of this film is heavily influenced by cinema vérité.

So as we move towards the end of the year, Gilberte’s World is one film you have to see to further appreciate the important role that family and friendship play in a person’s life.

Join us at Alliance Francaise on 17th November, 2016, at 7:00 pm and let us watch this intriguing movie and also interact with the Director.
