Contemporary gospel musician, Michael Oware Sakyi affectionately called OJ in the industry has called on Ghanaians to decrease the attack on gospel musician as they also require some breathing space.

“The attack on gospel musicians are too much, they think we should not breathe just because we sing gospel”, he stated.

The ‘Ma Ye Se Mo P3n’ hit singer who loves swimming said, there have been several times he was questioned by some persons as to why he was found at the beach but reiterated that, being a gospel musician does not mean one cannot have his personal life. Swimming is his hobby as it makes him exercise all parts of his body.

“I love swimming and normally go the beach on Sunday after church to exercise as well, but someone can call you and say ‘Oso’ (pastor) do you also come to the beach?”

OJ speaking to a session of upcoming musicians at a music training seminar on the theme Understanding The Music Industry also said that, the first target of the devil amongst the Godly ministries is the music ministry and hence the worshipper. He advised that, it should not surprise upcoming musicians when all eyes are on them in the church, from the media and ordinary persons as it is from time in memorial.

“Lucifer the devil after losing the seat to be God’s worshipper will try to bring anyone who wants please God through singing down, hence the attack we see now.”

OJ, who ones advised gospel musicians to focus on doing the work of God rather than awards stated that, in understanding the music industry, one has to be humble and wait patiently for the right time when God will lift you up, there you will receive the greatest award which comes from above.

Secular musicians do not suffer from having more girlfriends, insulting or doing any sort of evil but this will be a headline story for the media should it be from a gospel musician, he concluded.
