Hiplife artiste, Kofi Kinaata has justified why the late Paapa Yankson deserves to be given a State burial.
According to him, the legendary highlife artiste if given State burial will be a motivation for other musicians to also give out their best in order to sell Ghana to the international world through music.
In an interview on Accra-based Class FM the hiplife artiste said “He was a role model and a mentor, his sounds were the only sounds that we were listening to in Takoradi. I see him as a father. After the 2017 VGMAs, I went to his house and he gave me a whole lot of advice.”
He indicated that “Since his demise, I have also gone to the house to greet the family and I will say again that my condolences to the family.
He added “I agree that he should be given a state burial, that won’t be bad at all, it is a nice idea that will even boost our morale especially the young ones. That will mean when you live up to the expectation you will be recognised.”
Paapa Yankson died in his apartment in Accra on July 21.
After his demise, there have been calls from family members and players in the music industry for a state burial for the man who sold Ghana’s culture through music.
