The Glitz Africa Fashion Week has come to stay. Kudos to the organizers who have had to push in their strength to make sure that Ghana is more appreciated in the fashion arena across the world.
Day one was beautiful; day two saw an impressive audience compared to the opening night. It was a night that drew top fashion lovers across the world to the Accra International Conference Center, it was a night that brought the former first lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, to grace the show and undoubtedly she had fun. KOD, Menaye Donkor, among others were present.
Irene Logan was just at her best as she couldn’t stop mesmerizing the audience with her sleek voice. And did anyone miss her ‘rap’, where she mimicked ASEM on the ‘Run Away’ collaboration? The sister was sweet in her red gown. Chemphe also tickled the female audience with his give and take tunes. The dude has come of age to become the master of his terrain.
All designers showed why they deserved to be on that runway, from Pearl Amoah (Ghana), Ophelia Crossland (Ghana), Dio Ali (Cameroon), Aya Morrison (Ghana), Akushi Clothing (Ghana), Felicien Castermann (Benin), Black Pepper (South Africa), N’kya Designs (Ghana), Sa4a (Ghana), Wana Sambo Clothing (Nigeria), Modela Couture (Nigeria), Mina Evans (Ghana), Abaya Dake (U.S), Kolture Apparel (Ghana), House of Farrah (Nigeria), they all showed class.
Some notable highlights that added ‘pepper and salt’ to the night were, Aya Morrison’s evocation of screams from the crowd with her swim wears. Akushi Clothings sent the audience to a ‘wonderland’, Wana Sambo brought in ‘gaga’ to her statement of designs. Her designs even choked her from coming to receive paparazzi from the cameras, why? They were ‘wow’. Modela Couture went totally green in his message of taking everything ‘green’. In a nutshell, all designers were impressive.
Day three, which is the grand finale promises splendor as we hope to be at home with Diva Delicious (Ghana), Ambassador Couture (Nigeria), Ivana Elle Couture (Ghana), Ohema Ohene (U.K), Gilles Toure (Côte D’ivoire), Mai Atafo Inspired (Nigeria), and Kofi Ansah (Ghana).
If the first and second days were great, then Ghanaians and the world should expect a thrilling and blazing finale on day three. Also the Glitz Africa Fashion Week Awards is set to hold on the same day.
