Goat stealing syndicates cracked

Nsawam, (E/R)), March 9, GNA - Two members of a goat stealing syndicate were arrested by police during the early hours of Tuesday with their booty at Nsawam

According to police they stole three sheep and two goats from Gyankrom, a suburb of Nsawam, which belongs to Madam Dora Sakyibea, farmer of Gyankrom.

The culprits are Ibrahim Salifu and Smila Yakubu, both 19 years. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an interview, Superintendent Otchere Boapea, Police Commander in-charge of Nsawam, said they were arrested by a team of police night patrol squad under his control. He said it is the second time that Salifu had been arrested for the same offence after serving a term of six months imprisonment. Police have taken custody of the animals.

Meanwhile, the police are interrogating the six people arrested, for allegedly snatching bags containing sums of monies, wristwatches, mobile phones, and other property belonging to pedestrians and travellers. Supt. Boapea said, the criminals operate on Mondays and Thursday, which are market days at Nsawam and their hide-out near the Densu River bridge. had been destroyed.
