Adaklu Kodzobi (V/R), Oct. 31, GNA - A man caught preparing soup with the meat of a goat he stole on Monday was decorated with the animal's intestines around his neck and paraded the streets of Adaklu-Kodzobi near Ho with the rest of the carcass strapped to his back and taken to the Ho Police station.

Edward Deh alias Yubilate, 51, was alleged to have stolen the goat the previous night, slaughtered it and hid the carcass in the bush after removing the intestines.

Madam Eugenia Letsu, owner of the goat, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that she tethered the goat in her house before retiring to bed the previous night but it was nowhere to be found the following morning. She said she combed the neighbourhood but could not find the animal.

Madam Letsu said a neighbour hinted her that there was aroma coming from Deh's house suggesting that he was cooking goat meat. She said she alerted some Unit Committee members, who went to Deh's house to verify the allegation, and on seeing them, the suspect tried to hide the soup in his room but he was accosted taken to the Chief's house.

A spokesman for the Unit Committee said Deh admitted the offence and took them to the bush where the carcass was retrieved. He said but for the timely intervention of the chief, Deh would have been lynched by the youth.

A source at the Ho Municipal Police Station confirmed the story and said Deh would soon be arraigned.
