Accra, Feb. 8, GNA - Goodies Music Productions (GMP), managers and producers of some of Ghana's top hip-life musicians, on Tuesday launched the entertainment programme for this year's Industrial and Technology fair, dubbed: INDUTECH 2005.
Ras Caleb Appiah-Levi, Artistic Director of GMP, told journalists that the National Planning Committee of INDUTECH 2005 had mandated GMP as the official event organiser for the fair. In that capacity, GMP is in charge of all entertainment programmes on the fair grounds.
He said the mandate required every exhibitor who intends to use any form of entertainment as a means of attracting visitors to his or her stand to liase with GMP.
"Under the mandate, GMP is to raise sponsorship and pool the artistes for the entertainment programme at selected locations between March 4 and 13, 2005, when the fair would be on," he said. Ras Appiah-Levi said as part of the package, March 7, had been set aside for a music concert at the La Pleasure Beach and on March 11. GMP would also provide entertainment during the INDUTECH 2005 Awards Night at the Banquet Hall, State House.
Some of the artistes on the bill include VIP, winners of five top awards at the Ghana Music Awards 2003, Tic-Tac, Obuor, Abrewa Nana, Tony Tetuila, Jackie Ankrah, Daasebre Gyamena, K. K. Fosu, Castro, 2-Face of African Queen fame from Nigeria and Juli Endee from Liberia. Ras Appiah-Levi said the theme for the entertainment package was: "Living As One".
He said with the theme in mind, the musicians would transform their music into strong statements that would dwell on the need for peace and love in Africa and against war, poverty, corruption and disease. "These notable musicians will use the opportunity to entertain and educate the populace and make very important statements on HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis prevention and care and create awareness and galvanise a crusade to improve behavioural change towards personal hygiene and environmental sanitation and protection."
He expressed the hope that the media and corporate Ghana would join forces with GMP and organisers of INDUTECH 2005 to make it a success and promote the message of "Living as One" to Africans.
