The New Patriotic Party (NPP) government’s economic management team is currently locked up in a crunch at the Jubilee House over the arrival of embattled Chief Executive of Menzgold, Nana Appiah Mensah.

Sources within the meeting tell Ghanacrusader the government has been rattled by the political ripple effects of the nature the Mezgold saga has been handled and is seeking a way out to manage situations ahead of election 2020.

Though Nana Appiah Mensah aka NAM1 is currently in the custody of the Ghana Police undergoing interrogations, there is the discussion in political circles that the huge numbers of Menzgold customers, whose monies are locked up in investments, might turn against government in next year’s elections.

“You know Menzgold has a lot of customers in the Ashanti region and Takoradi. Those areas gave us a lot of votes in the 2016 elections. The government must manage this situation else it will be in trouble one day,” the source said.

Some distraught Menzgold customers joined a demonstration dubbed “Kum Yen Preko” in Accra a couple of days ago and vented their anger at government for the poor nature the saga was handled.

Key NPP bigwigs have confided in this reporter that NAM1 generously supported the NPP and the candidature of Akufo-Addo to win the 2016 elections and should not be treated shabbily.

And indeed, NAM1 has received some government protection in his trying times.

The economic management team is expected to come out of today’s meeting with some antidote to deploy in order to manage and handle the expectations of the numerous customers of Menzgold.

The source disclosed that NAM1’s ticket to Ghana via Dubai was paid for by an NPP financier.

Many have suggested for government to take up the indebtedness of Menzgold and pay up the customers like it is doing in the case of customers of DKM Ponzi scheme.
