Accra, Nov. 13, GNA - The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) has expressed concern over government's delay in coming out with a Legislative Instrument to give legal backing to the Copyright Bill signed into law by President John Agyekum Kufuor about eight months ago. A number of musicians who spoke to the Ghana News Agency said the delay in enacting the Legislative Instrument was enabling pirates to have a field day as piracy was now on the ascendancy.

Kojo Ampofo, a musicians said he suspected "sabotage", alleging that "some pirates are working their way through the corridors of power to frustrate moves to make the Copyright Law ineffective, thus depriving musicians of the fruits of their labour".

He said it was inconceivable that eight months after promulgating the law, it should still be kept on the shelves without giving it legal backing to make it operative.
